Today, we present a new video! At DoubleJump Books we’ve been pretty busy preparing the final touches for the Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice Official Strategy Guide, but there’s always time for a small teaser video.
This is a small example of what happens when you position an ally monster and throw someone on their noggin. Depending on the direction the monster is facing, your characters will be hurled that way. See for yourself as we ventured into the item world to test this. Who knew monsters were so elastic?

Summer is usually a busy time of preparation for gaming companies. Many big titles come and go during the fall season. These are usually the final months of fine tuning, marketing, and hyping for many games. It was nice to know that NISAmerica takes a break every once in a while to enjoy time with it’s fans and provide a booth every year at Anime Expo.
This year, they gave fans a treat by bringing over not one, but two great artists. Mr. Harada, the character designer and artist for the Disgaea series and Ms. Taniel, the character designer and artist for Blade Dancer and the upcoming A Witch’s Tale were present this year to give fans a personal look at how these games are given life through their art.
After the jump, we’ll talk a bit about the actual event and the fun stuff they had for fans to do there. Be warned, if you ever decide to go visit their booth, you’ll probably leave it with more than just a lighter wallet. Rosenqueen was also stationed there to give fans neat gifts and merchandise.
There was even a giant prinny or two.
Come on, what’s not to love?

We have another video to show you guys, if you’ve played Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories, then D3 isn’t that much of a change on the surface. I think showing you some new things you can do with the item world will give you a better idea of what to expect when the game is released next month.

Arr! Here is an example of reverse pirating, matey! The basic gist of it is that you, the player, become a pirate and loot an item world instead of being attacked by a pirate. It sounds easy, but it’s actually a lot of work! Instead of randomly finding specialists, you’ll see them clumped together in one area but in order to ’loot their booty’ you’ll have to throw them onto your ship and sail off into the sunset with them.
On a side note, one of the characters is also shown picking up a "leveling sphere". This is a new item to the Disgaea series, it’s purpose is to give you a bonus level up when you leave the item world if you manage to hold it until the end of battle.
How exciting! Just make sure you don’t defeat all of the enemies before grabbing as many specialists as you can. In this particular item, they only give you two turns before your time is up to grab the specialists. Can you work quick enough to make Reverse Pirating a dangerous but worthwhile experience?

Last time, we offered a voice sample for fans to gobble up. Today, we think that an actual video would be better to whet your appetite with. Taken from an early tutorial map, we’ll witness Mao’s interaction with a recurring group of characters.

As we play around with Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice, our staff can’t help but tinker around and try all sorts of goofy things you can do with this game. I’ve stated it before, this game is massive. Instead of talking about gameplay features and screenshots today, I want to address something that’s important to its fans.
Voice Acting.
I enjoy comparing the English and Japanese voices in a game. It tells a lot about the characters and how they’re interpreted in these two vastly different languages. Voice acting can bring dialogue to life, or ruin it completely. I even remember a few years back, there was a debate on whether the voice acting in NIS America games should be in English or in Japanese during battles. Due to coding issues, fans could only have one or the other. That’s changed now, so even the most hardcore fans can enjoy the game in it’s original format... with understandable text.
Provided in today’s post, a voice clip sample of the English voice acting can be found, as well as an extensive interview with Souhei Niikawa, the head honcho behind the Disgaea series! You really don’t want to miss that, now do you? (And don’t worry, it’s in English too!)

Hey guys, Charmwitch here. As you know, these have been busy days for NIS America as they work toward releasing their titles this year. Fall is bustling with titles, but let’s talk a bit about marketing first and see what makes a cover... well, a cover.
Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice’s US cover was released this week by the NIS America newsletter. Interestingly enough, it only features Mao. Lets take a look at it, shall we?
After the jump, let’s talk a bit about the latest news on downloadable content as well. D3 isn’t just a big game, it’s turning out to be massive. Some of the updates have been revealed in Japan. We’ll talk about them a bit. Hopefully, this will be a frequent occurrence for the game.

We were able to get permission, and so here you have it. An exclusive first look at D3’s English Build, in happy fun screenshot form. Now in actual color!

Hey guys, Ash here. We’re ramping up the production on the official strategy guide for Disgaea 3 here at DoubleJump, and I figured I’d throw up the ad for the guide that’s going to be on the back of the D3 manual! I think it came out pretty spiff, and I’m usually pretty critical of my own stuff I like how Mao is holding the book, as I think it adds some extra oomph, though I’m simple minded and easily impressed.
